About Jeremy

I was born to do TV News.  Beginning at an early age, shooting video of family in their most candid moments, was just the beginning.  Studying local news in my hometown market of Washington, DC quickly became my passion.

As a newsroom leader, I use me passion and enthusiasm for the news business as a way to inspire and motivate my team to go above and beyond.    I believe winning comes when you can successfully execute a strategic plan, and have the entire  newsroom staff clearly understand the pathway to achieving departmental goals.

A graduate of the University of Maryland College of Journalism, I spent the first 7+ years of my career growing up at WUSA-TV in Washington.  The major market experience taught me so much about the business I love so much.

From there, I tried my hand at running a small market newsroom in Charlottesville, VA.  The challenges were different, as mentoring had to become part of strategic arsenal.  Making an impact in young journalists lives is still one of the most rewarding feelings I can think of, and even today I am always looking for opportunities to help mentor young people in the news business just starting out.

After nearly four years in Charlottesville, I returned to Washington for a News Director job running the all news cable side of Washington, DC's ABC affiliate.  It was nothing like being at a broadcast news station.

Almost exactly a year after I started the cable thing, I followed my heart and returned to broadcast television news in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  This was one of my more enjoyable jobs because the staff was more seasoned and career focused.

After two years in Wilkes-Barre, I thought it was time to come home to Washington.  Against the advice of close friends and colleagues, I accepted a position as a senior producer in the DC bureau of a cable news channel.  From the moment I started, I realized this was nothing like doing news.  To be fair, I gave the job a year, but really began exploring other opportunities much sooner.

Just weeks after Superstorm Sandy hit, I began talking to News 12 New Jersey.  The operation was impressive and working there allows me to achieve a long time goal of living in New York City.  Accepting this job has proven to be exactly what I needed.  Both getting me back in local news and allowing me to finally make Manhattan my home.

Currently, I commute out to New Jersey daily.  Covering the news in this market is like nowhere I have ever been.  Gone is any desire to move back to Washington and when I refer to "home" these days, most people know, I'm talking about New York.
